A story to lift your spirits: A baby sloth, named Sjakie, needs a teddy bear to survive after its mother wasn’t producing enough milk.
The teddy bear gives the baby sloth something to hang onto, explained Wineke Schoo, park manager of the Burgers Zoo in Arnhem, The Netherlands. This is critical to having the sloth to feel comfortable enough for zoo staff feed it.
The teddy bear was a gift from the two-year-old daughter of one of the zoo keepers.
Sjakie is now two months old, and will soon be able to go back to his mother.
