I often refer to South African cartoonist Zapiro (Jonathan Shapiro) as his country’s satirist-in-chief. This time he’s venturing out of his beloved South Africa to comment on the violent protests across the Arab and Muslim world in response to videos and cartoons that many Muslims view as offensive. And Zapiro’s comment is that the pretty emblematic flower of last year’s Arab Spring has just had the crap punched out of it.
