An interview and slideshow about South African cartoonist JERM. JERM is Jeremy Nell and he’s been fired from his gig at The New Age, a national newspaper just two years into its run. The reason given: JERM’s cartoons are not “aligned” with the goals and mission of The New Age. But some South Africans believe it’s because JERM doesn’t hesitate to criticize the African National Congress and President Jacob Zuma. And, oh, there’s this: The New Age is owned by the Gupta brothers, Indian immigrants to South Africa who have strong ties with the ANC government and Jacob Zuma.
