Wow… Take a look at these.  This one, “Rendezvous”, is by Kiwi-born Sir David Low, a giant among cartoonists. It was published in September 1939 shortly after the joint Soviet-German invasion of Poland.

Victor Navasky, former editor of The Nation, pulled together these cartoons. He’s just published a book called The Art of Controversy: Political Cartoons and Their Enduring Power.
