Is a country’s welcoming attitude dependent on your gender?
Yesterday we asked our Geo Quiz texters,
What are the most welcoming, and least welcoming, countries around the world?
We heard over 75 different responses for people suggesting the most welcoming country. Check out the results:

One of our commenters on theworld.org pointed out that in the original interview, Max Fisher said “Most welcoming country, I would say Egypt. and least welcoming country I would say Egypt during Ramadan.”
Commenter Erin wrote in response,
The interviewee suggested Egypt was the most welcoming in his experience, but he’s a HE. i know many women who would say something very different about Egypt. I’d say that “most welcoming” has a lot to do with gender and ethnicity even, and hard to frame it otherwise.
What do you think? Is a country’s welcoming attitude dependent on your gender?

Geoquiz for Friday, December 14
- Can you name the city where one of Hans Christian Anderson’s earliest fairy tales was found?
For our Geo Quiz we’re heading to Kenya’s Rift Valley.
The lake we’re looking for is not Kenya’s biggest but it is one of the most economically important. Its waters and shores are home to fishermen, farmers and a huge cut flower industry.
The lake borders two national parks, and it’s just 50 miles northwest of Nairobi… so it’s a tourism mecca for Kenya.
Can you name this lake that was featured in the film version of “Out of Africa,” about Danish writer Isak Dinesen?
Congratulations to our Geo Quiz winners today!
